About Us

The Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition was created in 2002 to coordinate Palm Beach County's efforts in keeping KIDS DRUG FREE. The Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition is made up of staff from education, substance abuse and mental health, religious, business, media, and law enforcement and people who work with our youth and children. The Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition meets bi-monthly to coordinate activities geared towards STOPPING KIDS FROM STARTING TO USE ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND OTHER DRUGS.  

Responsibilities

Key Elements Include: A. Information sharing: This collaboration of information includes having the capacity to provide prevention services to participants in the form of a program, with a distinct name. This program name will be registered with the PBC SAC for web site distribution. B. Distribution rights will include agency name, address contact person phone number program name, and area where the program is implemented. The PBC SAC will update this on line service when applicable. C. Other useful information to give to the PBC SAC will include: location of services, demographics of participants, start dates and locations and number vacancies. Reports of expansion of services are appreciated. It is up to the agency to determine the methods' utilized to collect this data, and can include Program Your Kids Against Drugs agency input. D. If there is a problem with program starts and number of attendees, this information to be shared with the PBC SAC and Program Your Kids Against Drugs agencies in order to brainstorm and problem solve. E. All Program Your Kids Against Drugs agencies agree to strategize and implement marketing ideals and marketing materials, for the Program Your Kids Against Drugs web site. F. For continued coalition networking, the Program Your Kids Against Drugs agencies agree to utilize all avenues to ensure that program facilitation includes as many family/youth participants as possible considering program fidelity. This obligation falls on the shoulder of all individuals' and their agencies.  

Goals and Objectives

Goal 1: Increase Program Your Kids Against Drugs Public Exposure
Develop stronger media relationships to review/report on the Program Your Kids Against Drugs partners; their impact in the community and individual parents/youth.
Objective: Obtain more links for Program Your Kids Against Drugs Prevention Partners model program participants. Create a service linkage network through referrals, (i.e. - possible Drug Court/Dependency Court sanction and recommendation, Speakers Bureau with provided outline) Goal 2: Divide Services into four prevention districts
Map program implementation into four county areas.
Objectives:Determine program location and disseminate this information.
